Centre of Hope GLIA

Providing Practical Help, Comfort and Spiritual Encouragement for the people Romania by reaching out to the poor, disadvantaged and unloved of Dorohoi with God’s Love

The Place

The Centre of Hope is situated in the middle of Dorohoi which is in the north-east corner of Romania close to the Ukraine and Moldova borders and is a town of approximately 40,000 inhabitants and with an unemployment rate of over 50%. This part of Romania is recognised as the poorest in the Country and it is estimated that over 50% of the population live below the Romanian poverty line. Many of the inhabitants live in crumbling tenement blocks or houses with no electricity, gas or water as they have little or no regular income and have built up large debts for these utilities.
