Christmas Goodie Bag appeal 2025
The Place
The Centre of Hope is situated in the middle of Dorohoi which is in the north-east corner of Romania close to the Ukraine and Moldova borders and is a town that due to the lack of employment has now a reduced population of approximately 25,000 with an an unemployment rate of over 75%. This region of Romania is recognised as the poorest in the country and it is estimated that over 50% of the population live below the Romanian poverty line. Many of the inhabitants live in crumbling tenement blocks or houses with no electricity, gas or water as they have little or no regular income and have built up large debts for these utilities.
As well as our normal activities of providing meals, food bags, education etc we continue providing help for the Ukraine Crisis as and when required
