Obviously as God called us to this work, the spiritual aspect is most important to us and we always make it clear that the help we give comes from God. However, we are always careful not to “force” Christianity on any who come to the Centre and also that the clubs and meetings are not compulsory but opportunities to learn more about our faith and why we are in Dorohoi.

Children

Children, Adolescent and Youth Groups meet at the Centre weekly. Approximately 60 children aged between 3 -11 years meet in two groups on a Saturday morning. It is hoped to start a “Young Teens Group” soon. The Youth Group from the local Baptist Church also meet on a Saturday evening. The aim of all the groups is to hear the Gospel in a way they can understand.

Over the years we have had groups of young people coming out from the UK to run Holiday Clubs for the children which have always been very well attended and very much enjoyed by the children in Dorohoi; many of the songs they have learned are still being sung by the children!

Outside Activities

Every other Wednesday evening we have a “Prayer and Praise” night which is attended by about 30 men and women. When Peter and Lesley are not at the Centre, Josef, a local pastor, gives a word and his brother Beni leads the singing. We have had three baptisms at the Centre and four that have taken place at local protestant churches following attendance at these meetings over the years.

The Centre has also been used to facilitate a Youth Alpha course which was regularly attended by about 30 young people.
